Excursions:

ABU DHABI, EMIRATES CAPITAL (duration 4 hours)

Abu Dhabi, capital of the United Arab Emirates, is situated on a small peninsula surrounded by a cluster of islands. Established in 1761, it owes its name (chosen by a sheikh of the Bani Yas tribe) to a race of gazelles. This excursion is the perfect introduction to the city. After leaving the pier, the first photo stop is planned at Ittihad Square ("Ittihad" means "union"). We face then a visit to the Cultural Centre of Abu Dhabi where we can appreciate the award-winning art of Arabic calligraphy along with other wonderful works of art and paintings belonging to the Government of Abu Dhabi. As we move towards at Heritage Village, we will pass in front of the Presidential Palace after a photo stop by the Marina Cafe to capture the unique skyline. The Heritage Village is home to a small museum and housing illustrating the daily activities of the community prior to the discovery of oil. Subsequently we travel along the spectacular Corniche past the numerous skyscrapers ultramodern glass and the luxurious residential complexes that have earned the nickname of Abu Dhabi "Manhattan of the Persian Gulf." Finally we reach the end of the breakwater, where we will enjoy a superb view of the extraordinary city skyline.
Note: You should wear light cotton sweaters because of changes in temperature between the places visited and the air-conditioned vehicles. The order of the visits may vary.

VISIT DUBAI (duration 4 hours)

Considered the business capital of the UAE and the Middle East, Dubai is the second largest of the seven emirates. Because of its long history of trade, the city is commonly called the "City of Merchants". Dubai is a unique blend of East and West: a fascinating pot-pourri of oriental charm and western modernity. To begin with, we will take some wonderful photographs outside the famous 7-star hotel Burj al-Arab, after which we will head to the Jumeirah Mosque (photo stop outside), a magnificent example of Islamic architecture. In complete contrast to what we have just seen, we will shift in the historic district of al-Bastakia where we will admire the old houses from the bus with the characteristic wind towers. These facilities were originally built to refurbish the buildings before the air conditioning. Another attraction worth mentioning is the al-Fahidi fort, dating from the eighteenth century, now houses a museum. Later we will cross the quaint Creek with a typical boat called Abra and visit the spice market. The last stage will be dedicated to the immense gold souk where we will find exquisite works of jewelry at prices lower than anywhere else in the world.
Note: You should wear light cotton sweaters because of changes in temperature between the places visited and the air-conditioned vehicles. The order of the visits may vary. The start will be in the morning or early afternoon.
